When I think about artwork in a room, I liken it to a violinist in an orchestra. Art can serve various roles, such as:
The Soloist: Capturing attention and drawing focus.
The Accompanist: Creating balance, harmony, and flow within the space.
The Ensemble Member: Supporting other elements to enhance their beauty.
In every interior design project, the interior designer acts as the conductor, orchestrating all elements to bring the vision to life.

While I have a clear vision when creating bespoke map paintings for clients, I believe in the power of collaboration. Working closely with interior designers and clients ensures that my artwork aligns seamlessly with the overall design, looks stunning in the space, and resonates with the client’s preferences.
I offer flexibility to meet different client needs, with a structured process for longer projects and a streamlined approach for quick design turnarounds.

Long Lead Time Art Creation for Interior Designers Wanting Painting Artwork

Step 1: Kick-Off
To begin, I like to start with an initial conversation, either by phone or in person, to fully understand the project scope. If possible, visiting the project space is ideal to get a sense of the layout, lighting, and space. This allows me to consider sizing, composition, and the logistics of hanging multi-canvas artworks.
Engaging the client is key to discovering significant local areas, the home's character, and their preferred or disliked colour palettes. During this stage, we will also confirm the design brief, budget, payment terms, and project timeline.
Step 2: Design
Next, I assess the project based on the subject matter, our discussions, and any specific preferences. For business clients, elements like branding or hanging logistics are also taken into account. I will present several design options tailored to the space and vision.
I prefer to arrange a meeting or video call with both the interior designer and the client to review the assessment, design options, color palettes, and finalize the recommended direction. Involving the client in this process ensures their satisfaction with the final art piece.
Step 3: Revisions
This step allows for feedback from both the interior designer and the client. While I can provide insights on why certain design choices were made, I remain open to suggestions. If any changes are requested, I will update the design and send it back for final approval.
Once the design is approved, I can move on to creating the artwork.

Step 4: Creation
Using my unique process, I will begin crafting the artwork. Depending on the project's scope, ordering materials can take a few days to a few weeks. The painting process itself typically lasts 1-3 weeks.
Throughout this time, I provide updates and can share early-stage photos if requested. However, I prefer to keep the full reveal for the final unveiling to the client.
Step 5: Artwork Delivery
Once completed, the artwork will be delivered to the project space, ready for installation. While I don't handle the hanging personally due to liability concerns, I can provide templates and measurements to ensure proper placement.
With the client's permission, I often photograph the art in its final setting for my portfolio and request credit if the artwork is featured in any publications, online or in print.
Fast-Track Process for Creating Custom Art

For situations with shorter deadlines, I offer a fast-track process for creating bespoke art. Even if you're working with just a few weeks or days, I can still deliver a high-quality, custom piece for your interior design project.
Step 1: Fast-Track Kick-Off
In this expedited process, we may not be able to meet in person or visit the project space. The primary focus will be gathering key details from the interior designer—such as the design vision, colour palette, and any relevant project information.
Once we agree on the design brief and terms, a part-payment will be required to allow me to start gathering materials and dedicating time to design and creation.
Step 2: Design and Create
I will quickly develop a few design options and arrange a video call to discuss the selections. Depending on time constraints, the design may be less detailed than in a longer lead-time process, and any revisions will be handled via email if necessary.
I will then begin creating the artwork, ensuring that the quality aligns with my usual high standards.
Step 3: Delivery
The completed artwork will be delivered to the project space, ready for installation.
Rapid Painting Creation for Interior Design Projects

For urgent projects with tight deadlines, I offer a rapid art creation process. While this option is not ideal, I understand that some projects require flexibility. Please note that an additional fee may apply for prioritizing the project over others.
Step 1: Kick-Off
During a fast-paced kick-off call, I’ll gather essential information, including:
Subject matter/building significance
Hanging space dimensions
Colour palette preferences
Required delivery date
Step 2: Creation and Delivery
Once confirmed, I will begin creating the artwork immediately, ensuring a quick turnaround while maintaining the high-quality finish expected of my work.
The artwork will be delivered with adhesive pads to facilitate easy and quick hanging, ensuring it’s ready for your fast-paced design project.
Conclusion
Hopefully you can see from this I can be very flexible in working with interior designers to create a custom map painting artwork for your client, and help towards fulfilling your brief and design vision.
If you would be interested in having a map made for your client, please feel free to get in touch and I'd love to set up a meeting or call to discuss working together.
